about
A longtime favorite, since it was composed throughout 2012, Rosko has rein-visioned the enigmatic tune, staying true to the original sentiment.
The first section of the tune was recorded live, with Rosko on acoustic guitar and vocals, while James sat behind the drum kit.
Next, the second second was stitched in, also recorded live with Rosko on acoustic guitar and James on the Indian drums, known as Tablas.
With the two parts collaged, Rosko overdubbed piano. The first section also features overdubs of bass by Forrest Savage and back-up, harmony vocals from Madeline Horrigan.
The second half of the song, droning like a Middle Eastern raga, with folky strokes, features Rosko on slide guitar and overdubbed vocals. Madeline is also singing in the background on the short refrains.
lyrics
Do was a deer. Do was a friend and nothing else.
Go to the place where we were born and always stayed.
God, where do you to forget the code and let it all go?
God, where do I go, to find her soul and finally let go?
It goes on...
God, where do you to forget the code and let it all go?
God, where do I go, to find her soul and finally let go?
Wait for the sound, because it's always at your feet.
We are old and nothing's new-- it's all the same.
Don't you want to know?
I guess not.
We are dead; I am dying in my sleep.
She is walking-- she is crawling over me.
Don't you want to know?
I guess not.
